Man Wanted for Sexually Assaulting 13-year-old

Sacramento County Sheriff's Department Child Abuse Bureau detectives have recovered surveillance video of the suspect in the July 27 sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl at Antelope Crossing Middle School.

According to sheriff's officials, the video was captured by the school's video surveillance cameras and shows the suspect running from the scene after the attack. Detectives are releasing the video and asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect responsible for the attack.

On Friday, sheriff's detectives released a sketch of a suspect (top left).

He is described as a "very tan" white man in his mid-40s, 5-feet-6 to 6-feet tall, with a medium build, short gray hair and a noticeable belly. He was wearing a gray T-shirt with red trim, blue jeans and black shoes.

Sheriff officials said the attack happened shortly after 5 p.m. at the middle school. The victim had gone to the school, which was not in session, with two friends, a 14-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy.

They separated briefly. The victim was on the west side of the campus when the attacker appeared behind a classroom, grabbed her from behind and sexually assaulted her.

The suspected fled on foot toward Palmerson Drive after the victim struggled and yelled for help. The 14-year-old girl saw the attack from a short distance away, authorities said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Child Abuse Bureau detectives at (916) 874-5194 or (916) 874-5191, or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
