Daniel Webber Arrested for Raping 11-year-old Girl

A Smyrna man is accused of repeatedly raping an 11-year-old girl — and police say the girl's mother covered up the crime.

Twenty-six-year-old Daniel Webber was arrested Thursday night. State police say the investigation of Webber began after the victim told a school counselor that she didn't want to be around Webber because he hurt her.

But the Division of Family Services didn't immediately find evidence of wrongdoing, in part because the girl's mother said Webber had done nothing wrong.

Police say the girl's mother was with her and Webber at the beach last week when a bystander spotted Webber kissing the girl. That led to a search of Webber's home, and he was charged with three counts of first-degree rape and four counts of second-degree rape.

The mother was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

Rev. Gerald Dunne Accused of Child Sexual Abuse

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia says a priest accused of child sexual abuse denies the accusation but has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

Church officials say parishioners at Resurrection of Our Lord Parish in Philadelphia were informed of the allegation against the Rev. Gerald Dunne this past weekend, following the filing of a lawsuit last week in Delaware.

The plaintiff in the lawsuit accuses Dunne, a member of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, of sexually abusing him some 30 years ago at Salesianium High School in Wilmington.

Robert Webster Arrested for Distributing Child Porn

A 35-year-old man was arrested last week for distributing child pornography on computers at his Felton home, police said.

Robert L. Webster of Fox Chase Drive was arrested early Thursday as the result of an online undercover investigation by the State Police Child Predator Task Force.

During a search, police seized six desktop computers, six laptops, 11 hard drives and other digital material, said police Sgt. Walter Newton.

Webster was charged with 29 counts of using a computer to unlawfully depict a child engaging in a prohibited sexual Act, Newton said.

Webster was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 in Dover and is being held on $870,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday morning.

According to court records, police found Webster in his bedroom in the home's basement, where a workstation with a desktop computer was found. Webster admitted he was the only resident to use the computer, the papers say.

Webster also admitted to using LimeWire, a file-sharing program, to download the pornographic images, some of children as young as 3 or 4 years old, the papers say.

At least 29 such files were found on the hard drives, and one of the files was part of a known child sexual exploitation series, according to the papers.

Ronaldo & Catalina Gonzalez Charged with Endangering Welfare of Child

Thirty-five-year-old Ronaldo Gonzalez has been charged with raping a 13-year-old girl last year.

Georgetown police have charged him second-degree rape and felony endangering the welfare of a child.

Police were notified when the girl told a social worker that she had been sexually assaulted by Ronaaldo Gonzalez in October 2008.

When questioned by the police, Gonzalez acknowledged his involvement.

Police are now saying that Gonzalez's wife Catalina was aware of the sexual assault but failed to report the problem. She is now charged with endangereing the welfare of a child. She is currently free on bond.

James C Peterson Sentenced to 9 Years for Trading Child Porn

A 36-year-old Wilmington man was sentenced Tuesday to nine years in prison for trading child pornography online.

James C. Peterson pleaded guilty in January to transportation of child pornography, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison.

According to court records, Peterson came to the attention of the state police and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement last year.

When police searched his home on June 4, 2008, they seized three computers and digital media containing more that 16,000 still images and 140 videos of child pornography.

A search of Peterson’s AOL accounts revealed that he had traded child pornography through e-mail with about 40 other people, said Acting U.S. Attorney David Weiss.

Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement independently identified Peterson as a child pornography trader after finding e-mails containing child pornography on the computer of an individual in Indiana.

Weiss said that two years before he was arrested, Peterson had been engaging in online conversation with a 14-year-old New York boy who was in reality a police detective from Nassau County, N.Y.

During his conversations with the alleged teen, Peterson sent several computer files containing child pornography to the undercover detective.

He also talked about meeting the alleged teen in New York and Wilmington for sex.

Peterson told law enforcement officers following his arrest that he downloaded the pornographic images to a folder marked “VYB” for “very young boys.”

The youngest child depicted was about 2 years old, he said.

Peterson, who claimed he had been abused as a child, was told by Federal Judge Sue L. Robinson at sentencing that “you became your childhood’s nightmare.”
