Nearly two dozen people in southern New Jersey have been charged with downloading and sharing child pornography.
Numerous search warrants were executed this week as part of "Operation Sentinel," a yearlong initiative by the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. It was designed to track and prosecute people hosting child porn on their computers.
County, federal, state and local authorities executed warrants at homes in 14 of the county's 37 municipalities in raids that concluded Friday.
The 21 people charged range in age from teenagers to the elderly and include a soldier, a police dispatcher, a truck driver and a retired executive.
Eighteen people were arrested and released on bail this week. Investigators were searching for three others.

Ernest Garza Sentenced to 7 Years for Downloading Child Porn
A Robstown man has been sentenced to more than seven years in federal prison for downloading child pornography from the Internet.
Ernest Garza, 23, was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge Hayden Head to seven years and three months in prison to be followed by a decade of supervised release.
He also must register as a sex offender for life, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Garza pleaded guilty in April to one count of receiving child pornography.
FBI agents and Corpus Christi police obtained a search warrant in September to search Garza’s home. They seized a laptop computer that had several videos and images of child exploitation, the release said.
He was arrested in March after an investigation revealed he was downloading and offering the images for others to download. Some of the children in the images and videos had been identified by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Raymond Ewing Mack Pleads Guilty to Child Porn
A Scottdale man has pleaded guilty to a child pornography charge and faces a maximum 20-year prison term when he is sentenced in September.
Raymond Ewing Mack, 30, of 410 Eleanor Ave., pleaded guilty to one count of receiving child pornography Tuesday in Federal Court in Pittsburgh.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Soo C. Song said Mack was arrested after an undercover online FBI investigation into the trading of child pornography via peer-to-peer networks.
In July 2007, an FBI analyst obtained downloads of child porn from Mack via computer. Two months later, investigators served a search warrant and seized sexually explicit videos and images of prepubescent children on his computer.
Mack pleaded guilty in 2001 and 2007 in Fayette County for corruption of minors. He will be required to register as a sex offender.
Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 30 before Senior U.S. Judge Maurice Cohill.
Mack remains in the custody of U.S. marshals pending sentencing.

A Mount Crawford man accused of downloading child pornography pleaded guilty Tuesday in Rockingham County Circuit Court.
Ethan Andrew Wagner, 20, of Scotts Ford Road, pleaded guilty to one felony count of possession of child pornography.
As part of a plea agreement, Judge James Lane handed Wagner a three-year suspended sentence and three years of supervised probation.
The investigation into Wagner started on Nov. 21 when a friend of his brought Wagner's computer to the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office.
The friend said that while using the computer he had come across videos of children having sex with adults, prosecutors said.
The friend told investigators that Wagner came over to his Penn Laird home with the computer the night before to play video games, according to court records.
After playing for a few hours, they left for the evening and Wagner made arrangements to pick the computer up at a later time.
The following day, the friend said he began to use the computer to play video games and check to see what music and videos Wagner had downloaded, according to court records.
While browsing through videos, the friend found a partially downloaded video that had a sexually explicit title that implied that child actors were involved. In one video, it appeared that a girl of about 7 years old was engaged in lewd act with an adult.
In court Tuesday, Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Chris Miller told the judge that Wagner confessed during a police interview.
"He said he was just curious, it aroused him and that he was embarrassed by it," Miller said.

Eric Durfee Arrested for Child Porn

A Normal man faces between five and 20 years in federal prison if convicted of accessing child pornography on his computer earlier this year.
Eric Durfee made his initial appearance in U.S. District Court on Thursday after a grand jury returned an indictment against him last month.
Durfee allegedly accessed child pornography on his computer March 12. He pleaded not guilty to the charge Thursday and was ordered held in the custody of U.S. marshals pending a detention hearing in U.S. District Court next week.
His case is set for an Aug. 31 trial before U.S. District Judge Michael Mihm.

David Zerfoss Arrested for Possession of Child Porn
Deputy U.S. Marshals have captured a convicted sex offender, who is a former local bank executive, at his Honolulu home for allegedly violating conditions of his supervised release.
David G. Zerfoss was found at his home Tuesday, and arrested on a warrant charging him with revocation of his release, a U.S. Marshals news release said Wednesday.
Zerfoss allegedly possessed child pornography, a violation of the conditions of his supervised release, according to U.S. Marshals.
Zerfoss is a former chief investment officer at Bank of Hawaii and Central Pacific Bank.
In January 2005, he was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release for possessing child pornography.
A week before he was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge David Ezra, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that mandatory federal sentencing guidelines were unconstitutional. Zerfoss would have faced at least 27 months in prison if the mandatory federal sentencing guidelines were still in place. Instead, the Supreme Court ruled that the guidelines should be advisory, not mandatory.
Zerfoss pleaded guilty in April 2004 to one count of possessing child pornography downloaded from the Internet.
In a computer and hard drive seized from his Makiki home in December 2003, investigators found 13 movies and 19 photos of exploited children engaging in sexually explicit conduct. They also found evidence on the computer history log that child pornography sites had been accessed just the morning and night before, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Larry Tong.
At the time of his sentencing, Ezra said he believed it was unlikely Zerfoss would revert to his previous behavior because of rehabilitation he has undergone since entering his plea.

Three Cleveland Men Charged with Having Child Porn
Three Cleveland men are charged with using the Internet to collect pornographic videos and photographs of children.
Christopher Jones, 34, was indicted on 100 counts. Prosecutors say he was sharing pornography from January through May 7, when officers with the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force searched his East Side home. "Jones was downloading child pornography when officers arrived," prosecutor's spokesman Ryan Miday said.
David Lingenfelter, 21, was indicted on 41 counts. Prosecutors say he was sharing child pornography from his parents' house in Warrensville Heights from August through November 2008. March 6, the task force searched his house and confiscated his computer.
Sherief Ishac-Sorial, 27, of Cleveland, was indicted on 29 counts. Prosecutors say he was sharing child pornography from his West Side house from May through September 2008. His computer was confiscated Dec. 12.
The ICAC task force was created in 1999 by Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason and includes members of local, state and federal law enforcement. It expanded statewide in 2003 to include 280 law enforcement agencies, at least one from each of Ohio's 88 counties.

Joseph Lewis Smith Charged with Possesion of Child Porn
A San Carlos Park man awaiting a state trial for alleged child molestation is now facing federal child pornography charges.
U.S. Marshals nabbed Joseph Lewis Smith, 39, of 18562 Zinnia Road, on Friday, following a Wednesday indictment. Smith is charged with one count of possession of child pornography and one count of receiving images from across state lines.
"I can tell you it's some of the worst child pornography I've ever heard of," Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney Douglas Malloy said of the case.
At the time of his arrest, Smith was awaiting trial in state court on a felony molestation charge from February. Accused of molesting a girl in his care under the age of 12, he was released on bond the day after his arrest.
With Friday's arrest, Smith is now back in jail and scheduled for arraignment before a federal judge on Wednesday. A detention hearing at the same time will determine whether he stays in jail or is released.
Malloy said Lee County deputies notified FBI agents about the images during the Sheriff's Office investigation. Deputies searched Smith's house at one point, according to the arrest report from February.
According to his federal indictment, Smith received the images from as far back as January 2005. Malloy said they were especially graphic and involved young children.
"Sometimes people think this could be a mistake or a pop-up," he said. "These are thousands of images."
The indictment calls for the forfeiture of two computers and a USB drive at Smith's home.
Smith's February arrest followed accusations by the child, who was occasionally placed in Smith's care by her mother. The child told investigators that Smith had her undress to her underware, and that he would massage and touch her buttocks and vagina with his hands and with a vibrator.
As part of Smith's release, he was told to have no contact with the victim, through e-mail or texting, and he wasn't allowed within 500 feet of the child's house. He also surrendered his passport.
If convicted of the state charge, Smith faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. The two federal counts carry a maximum 15 years in federal prison.

Samuel Worley Jr Charged with Sexual Exploitation of Minor
The State Law Enforcement Division said that a Union County Elementary School teacher downloaded child pornography on his computer.
Authorities said that 46-year-old Samuel Worley Jr. used a file sharing service to download and disseminate sexually explicit materials of minors on his computer at home.
SLED said that agents confiscated Worley’s computer during an undercover investigation.
Worley was charged with second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Dale Gilbert Arrested for Sexual Exploitation of Child
Dale Gilbert, 60, could spend the next decade on probation and have to register as a sex offender for life for two counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
Police say Gilbert was caught in October when a fellow guest at a Vista Avenue hotel noticed what he was doing on a shared computer folder viewed over the hotel's wireless network. Gilbert was originally charged with nine counts, but seven were dropped Tuesday as part of a plea agreement with Ada County prosecutors, who are recommending a suspended 10-year prison sentence, sex offender treatment and perhaps up to 180 days in jail. He will be sentenced Aug. 4.
