Julie Carr Arrested for Sexually Abusing her own Child

Detectives in Britain teamed up with U.S. federal officers and cops in Maine to quickly track down and arrest a woman who allegedly used a webcam to stream video of her sexually abusing her own young child.

The international dragnet resulted in the arrest of Julie Carr, 30, in Mars Hill, Maine, Friday. Carr, who, in her mug shot was wearing a shirt with the logo "Bad Angel" on the front and had tattoos on both of her arms, is being held in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.

Carr was arrested after a tip went to police in Humberside County in England about a man who may have been involved with child pornography.

Emanuel Dewayne Dodson Wanted for Killing 2-year-old

Las Vegas police say they are searching for a 28-year-old man suspected of abusing and killing his girlfriend's 2-year-old child.

Authorities said Monday that officers found the child dead Sunday morning in a neighborhood east of the Las Vegas Strip after the child's mother called authorities.

Police say the mother described her child as unresponsive when she called.

Authorities say they believe Emanuel Dewayne Dodson may have gone to the Los Angeles area, where he is from.

Thomas Reynolds Jr Pleads Guilty to Sexually Assaulting 2 Boys

A 50-year-old Westampton man pleaded guilty Monday to sexually assaulting two boys and inappropriately touching a third over the course of several years.

Thomas R. Reynolds Jr. of Lawrence Drive faces state prison when sentenced in September for two counts of sexual assault and a count of endangering the welfare of a child. He entered the plea before Superior Court Judge Patricia R. LeBon.

Reynolds, a former service clerk for a transportation company, admitted that he abused one boy from 2002 to 2006, starting when the child was 11. He also acknowledged assaulting another boy over a two-year period from May 2001 to August 2003, starting when the child was 15.

Reynolds admitted touching another boy for several months in 2006, when the child had just turned 15. He acknowledged he touched all the boys for his own sexual gratification. All the contact occurred in Pemberton Township.

Reynolds’ sentence will be determined after he is evaluated at the state’s Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center, a state prison that evaluates and treats sex offenders in custody.

Advertisement If professionals find Reynolds’ behavior is “compulsive and repetitive,” if he is amenable to treatment, and if he is willing to participate in treatment, LeBon will sentence him to seven years, to be served at the center, according to the plea agreement.

If his behavior is not compulsive and repetitive or if he is unwilling to be treated, he will receive a 10-year sentence, to be served in another state prison, Assistant Prosecutor Kevin Morgan said.

Regardless of the custodial part of his sentence, Reynolds will have to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and be on parole supervision for life after his release, according to the plea deal. Conditions of that parole could restrict where he is allowed to live, work and travel, among other things, LeBon said.

If he is found to be a “sexually violent” predator, he could be civilly committed for life.

Jamie Overstreet Sentenced to 20 Years for Making Child Porn

A Huntington man is headed to federal prison for producing, possessing and trafficking in child pornography.

29-year-old Jamie Overstreet was sentenced to 20 years in prison during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Huntington on Monday.

Back in December, Overstreet pleaded guilty of the charges.

Prosecutors say the conviction stems from an investigation in California of a person suspected of possessing child pornography and sharing it with Overstreet.

Authorities in West Virginia searched Overstreet's residence.

Prosecutors say it was clear that Overstreet was involved in a nationwide ring of individuals engaged in the sexual abuse of children, and the production and trafficking in child pornography.

Investigators found hundreds of images and videos of pre-pubescent minors engaged in sexual activity on Overstreet's computer. Many of these images and videos were produced by Overstreet

Jeremy 'Jay' Semprebon Charged with Possession of Child Porn

Jeremy "Jay" Semprebon was in possession of more than a hundred images of child pornography when detectives raided his personal computer last fall, say police.

As a result, the 40-year-old former AIDS Response-Seacoast counselor and registered sex offender has been indicted by a Rockingham County grand jury on 17 new counts of possession of child

Semprebon has been incarcerated at the Rockingham County House of Corrections since his August 2008 arrest in which he was charged with and indicted on felony counts of "prohibition from child care services of persons convicted of certain offenses."

Those charges allege Semprebon failed to disclose his sex-offender status before counseling minors at Seacoast Outright, while acting as an agent of AIDS Response Seacoast.

Police allege he had contact with minors during his course of employment with AIDS Response Seacoast, despite a court order to not have contact with children. He is alleged to have begun working as a youth coordinator for the nonprofit in the summer of 2007 and did not disclose his sex-offender status when he was hired.

As part of his job, Semprebon was sent to other nonprofits and worked with both adults and minors.

The former Rye resident is a registered sex offender on New Hampshire's public list, having been convicted in 1995 in Strafford County of aggravated felonious sexual assault on a 5-year-old child.

The latest charges stem from a search warrant obtained by local police detectives during the course of investigation into his employment status last fall, according to Detective Kristyn Bernier.

Bernier said the investigation revealed that Semprebon had made his way onto various social networking sites and because of that police were concerned he was trying to look for more victims.

"We were concerned that there might be more victims out there," said Bernier.

When detectives obtained a search warrant for his computer looking for his history on the social networking site, Bernier said they discovered some pictures deemed as "child sexual assault images."

After obtaining an addendum to the search warrant, Bernier said detectives stumbled upon more than 100 images of prepubescent males undressed and exploited.

Bernier said although detectives were unable to pinpoint the exact identity of the victims, it was clear that many of them were of young boys. Some of the images were of the same children, while many of them were of a variety of different victims.

Authorities are unsure of the source of the images, but Bernier said they could have been downloaded by Semprebon, obtained through peer-to-peer networking, e-mailed or taken by himself.

The detective said police have forwarded the images to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for evaluation and in an effort to locate the children depicted.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt; rather it means a grand jury has found sufficient evidence to warrant a trial.

Operation Viking Busts Child Porn Distribution

Police in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark on Tuesday raided the homes of 81 people suspected of downloading and spreading child pornography on the internet.

In the joint operation, police seized computers and other equipment believed to contain photos and films of sexual assaults against children. In Finland, police targeted 23 homes in 14 municipalities.

“The raids were made across Finland. Police detained suspects and seized computers in small towns as well as in the capital city region,” says Mika Ihaksinen of Finland's National Bureau of Investigation.

Ihaksinen says the suspects were all members of the same file-sharing site. That said, police say there is no evidence to indicate that the suspects were involved in an organised child porn ring. Police, however, say the suspects were well aware of the nature of the material they were accessing, as downloading times sometimes spanned several days.

Police agencies in the four countries have been gathering evidence since May against people suspected of downloading and distributing illegal child pornography through file-sharing sites. Danish authorities have led the investigation.

Authorities are now tracing the source of the pornographic material, which they say may be linked to human trafficking.

The exact number of arrests in the crackdown dubbed "Operation Viking" is not known.

Queens Baker Issac Ebstein Arrested for Molesting 10-year-old

A Queens baker who admitted molesting a 10-year-old boy isn't going to prison - but he's been booted from the kitchen.

The Rabbinical Council of Queens banned Issac Ebstein, 50, from Queens Kosher Pita in Kew Gardens Hills after he pleaded guilty to luring the boy with cookies and abusing him in 2002.

The council told Ebstein, 50, he had to divest himself of ownership because he was convicted of a "crime of moral turpitude" - or the shop would lose kosher certification.

A council spokesman declined to comment, but a source said Ebstein agreed. Ebstein's victim confronted him in court Tuesday, describing how he turned to drugs to mask his secret pain.

"I've been wanting to do this since the day this happened," the boy, now 17, told Ebstein, who hung his head in shame.

"The pain that I've been through, words can't describe it. You ruined my life. It's not fair. It's not right." He listed the ways the abuse had destroyed his young life: "I lost my respect for religion, use of drugs, loss of self respect."

"If you have done this to anybody else, tell someone. Let the kids get help," the teen added. "I'm sorry," the defendant said.

The abuse came to light when the victim approached Rabbi Yakov Horowitz, a child abuse advocate who works with the Orthodox Jewish community and urged him to go to authorities.

Ebstein is getting a year's probation for attempted sexual abuse and attempted child endangerment.

He was released without bail and does not have to register as a sexual predator as long as he completes a year of counseling and monitoring.

Prosecutors said the deal spared the victim from testifying about his ordeal.

Brandon Howard Arrested for Child Porn

A Leesburg man is being held on five counts of possession of child pornography, after a Lake County deputy discovered his computer was being used to share videos of children engaged in sex acts, according to probable cause affidavit.

Brandon Howard, 20, of Leesburg was arrested on the five felony counts today.

Investigators found videos with images of children under age 18 involved in sex acts, according to the affidavit.

A search warrant was served on Sept. 4 at Howard's home. At that time "two images of suspected child pornography were located in a folder on the defendant's computer."

Howard admitted to downloading the movie files and image files and agreed that the videos showed children under age 18. Howard said "that he kept several of the videos for 'awhile' even after he realized they were children and watched them several times."

Robert Thompson Sentenced to 10 Years for Child Porn

An Exeter man was sentenced today to 10 years and one month in prison after pleading guilty to a federal charge of receiving child pornography, U.S. District Court.

Robert Thompson, 40, has been in federal custody since Nov. 11m after being identified by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Fresno, working with the Fresno County Sheriff's Department, as having accessed Web sites containing child pornography.

Authorities reported finding a computer in his home containing child pornography along with computer-altered images in which the faces of two girls Thompson knew taken from school pictures were digitally placed on images of the naked bodies of other girls, according to a U.S. Justice Department press release.

Thompson pleaded guilty in March to the child pornography charge, and his sentence was handed down in Fresno by U.S. District Court Judge Oliver W. Wanger.

Ryan Christopher Lynn Sentenced for Distributing Child Porn

A 22-year-old Fresno, Calif., man has been sentenced to 210 months in prison followed by a lifetime of supervised release for using peer-to-peer file sharing technology to distribute child pornography.

Ryan Christopher Lynn, 22, received the lengthy prison term in part because of a court imposed sentencing enhancement for depictions of "vulnerable victims," which included videos depicting sex acts between minors and animals, bondage and other violent images.

The case is the result of an investigation by the Fresno Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which includes U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Fresno County Sheriff's Department.

"People who download and possess child pornography are truly putting the world's youth at risk," said Brian Poulsen, resident agent in charge of the ICE Office of Investigations in Fresno. "The images possessed by the defendant in this case included scenes involving real children who were being sexually abused and exploited in horrific ways. ICE will continue to work closely with its law enforcement partners to target those who commit these types of crimes and see that they are brought to justice."

According to prosecutors, Lynn was targeted for investigation in the spring of 2008 because he appeared to be making a large number of images of known child pornography available through a peer-to-peer file-sharing program. When agents executed a search warrant at Lynn's residence in May 2008, they discovered his laptop computer. A forensic analysis of that computer revealed approximately 175 video and 100 still images of child pornography.

The defendant claimed at his trial that he never knowingly received, possessed or distributed any images of child pornography. He also denied he had engaged in sexually charged Internet chat discussions with a girl he believed to be 15 years old. When confronted with that evidence at trial, he claimed his Internet account had been hacked, a claim that was refuted with forensic evidence from his own computer. The court enhanced the defendant's sentence for obstruction of justice, because he gave false testimony at his trial.

Lynn was convicted in March on one count of receipt or distribution of child pornography and he was remanded into custody on that date.

The charges against Lynn are the result of the Department of Justice's Project Safe Childhood (PSC) and ICE's Operation Predator, initiatives designed to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation. PCS was launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to marshal federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. For more information, visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov or call the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of California and ask to speak with the PSC coordinator.

Operation Predator is an ongoing ICE initiative to protect children from sexual predators, including those who travel overseas for sex with minors, Internet child pornographers, criminal alien sex offenders, and child sex traffickers. ICE encourages the public to report suspected child predators and any suspicious activity through its toll-free hotline at 1-866-347-2423. This hotline is staffed around the clock by investigators.

Suspected child sexual exploitation or missing children may be reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, an Operation Predator partner, at 1-800-843-5678 or http://www.cybertipline.com.

Former Band Teacher Raymond Ferenci Sentenced to Prison for Child Porn

A former Tulare Western High School band teacher has been sentenced to prison time for child porn.

54-year-old Raymond Ferenci was sentenced to six and a half years in prison.

He was convicted of having two years worth of sexually explicit pictures of pre-teen girls on his computer. His sentence will be followed by ten years of supervised release.

Ferenci was arrested by Tulare Police, along with the Fresno Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force at his Visalia home back in November of 2008. The arrest stemmed from a seven month investigation which began after the Tulare Police Department received a report of Ferenci sending inappropriate text messages to three of his students.

One victim has filed a restitution claim seeking monetary compensation. A hearing in that case is scheduled for next month.

Prior to his arrest, Ferenci had taught at Tulare Western High School for 20 years.
