The Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office has announced the grand jury indictment of a registered sex offender for another rape case in which he is accused of sexually battering his 3-year-old neighbor more than 25 years ago.
Walter Earl Taylor, 39, of Lake City, has been charged with sexual battery on a person under 12 by a person under 18.
The charge stems from a 1983 cold case that Boynton Beach police senior investigator Toby Athol helped solve.
DNA tests confirmed Taylor sexually battered the toddler when he was 14, the State Attorney's Office said Thursday.
Taylor, who is being held in the Palm Beach County Jail without bail, already has served almost 14 years for raping another child.
He was released in 2001 after serving that term.
