A three-week-old baby is at the University Medical Center Thursday suffering from a fractured skull, a broken arm and broken leg.
The baby's mother is in the Warren County Jail charged with felony child abuse. 24-year-old Kristen Walters of Oak Ridge Road in Vicksburg has been ordered held without bond by county judge John Price at her initial appearance today.
Sheriff Martin Pace tells WLBT that investigators believe the baby's injuries were inflicted Saturday night, yet the child was not taken to the hospital until Sunday morning.
After first being taken to River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg, the child was then taken to U.M.C. The baby has been placed in D.H.S. custody.
