Maynor Quintanilla Leon Arrested for Sexual Assault on 6-year-old

A Chillum man caught on videotape sexually assaulting a 6-year-old boy was arrested in Houston on Tuesday after police identified and located his victim, who confirmed that he had been attacked, authorities said.

Maynor O. Quintanilla Leon, 24, of the 5900 block of Eastern Avenue was charged with second-degree sexual offense and child abuse in connection with the attack on the boy, whom police identified as a family friend of Quintanilla Leon's.

Police in Prince George's learned that Quintanilla Leon might be in Texas and contacted U.S. marshals for help in finding him, authorities said. He is being held in Houston and is awaiting extradition to Prince George's, authorities said.

Investigators were tipped off about the attack July 8, when someone delivered a videotape depicting the attack to the department's District 1 station. The person apparently received the tape from someone else and was unable to tell investigators who was on it, said Cpl. Mike Rodriguez, a Prince George's police spokesman. Later, the tape's finder the tape called to identify the man in it as Quintanilla Leon, Rodriguez said. Investigators questioned him, but lacking a victim, could not charge him, Rodriguez said.

An officer showing Quintanilla Leon's picture in District 1 found an address for him, according to a source familiar with the case, who was not authorized to speak about it. The 6-year-old lived at that address and told investigators what had happened, the source said.
