A 21-year-old Conrath man has been charged with sexually assaulting two boys, ages 9 and 10, in the summer of 2001, according to Rusk County Court records.
Dale E. Sandlin is charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault. Each charge has a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison. His initial court appearance is scheduled for July 7.
According to the criminal complaint:
Officials learned about the sexual assaults in December. The boys told police in interviews in February and March that they were sexually assaulted by Sandlin inside a tent on the same night in the summer of 2001.
Sandlin told police on Feb. 13 that he had consensual sex with the boys.
