Trial Begins for David Durling Accused of Sexual Assault

Opening arguments were made this morning in the trial of a Vineland soccer coach charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child in 2004 and 2005.

The charges against David Durling, for incidents that allegedly happened on camping trips and overnight stays with three 10- and 11-year-old boys he coached in soccer, were based on statements by the children.

Assistant Cumberland County Prosecutor Dara Paley, in her opening statement, described Durling as "the man that all three boys trusted and all three considered to be their surrogate father ... (who) betrayed the trust of all three boys."

"I guess we can all go home now," said Durling's lawyer, Carmen DiMario, in his opening statement.

"The prosecutor wants you to be stupid. They would be happy if you said, 'Child molestation. Guilty'," he said.

DiMario called it "one of the worst-investigated cases I've seen in my life."

First on the witness stand in the afternoon was Vineland Detective Louis Negron.

  1. I had worked with David Durling back in 89-93. I am shocked to what I have read but not shocked he pleaded innocent. David was such a great person to work with but never took blame for things that went bad. He was great at his job and an even better friend. I remember on day when I had no money to eat I was looking for change in my car and David said, "Stop picking pennies up, here's a 10." I was like 'Wow, thanks, Dave right' he laughed and said, "Yea thats me." I was still in aww that someone that I hardly knew even at work would do something like that for me. I'm sure he did do these crimes against these boys and he deserves to be where he is. Just sad for the boys that had to go through this and that makes me hate David even more.

    1. That is the same way he lured these boys. He sought out kids that had nothing and acted like he was looking out for them and helping them. He pled innocent so that he could sit back and smile as these boys had to relive every disgusting thing he did to them as they spoke on the witness stand. Hope he rots in hell

  2. i knew dave too, back in school. It was after gym class, i thought i was alone in the locker room having a wank. When out pops dave, he says, "let me help you with that". Right then & there dave dropped to his knees and started to suck me off. After i quickly came, i said, "Wow, that was totally awesome, you're dave right?". As he wiped my juices from his lips, he laughed and said, "yea thats me". Just recollecting this has made me hard. Perhaps i'll be back later to finish this post. For now i have to go finish myself, albeit without good'ol dave...

Well if everything that had happened to them is true, then i can understand. I don't think it did. You on the other hand need help my not so kind friend. You need to talk with someone or it may be you in the headlines one day. Just a thought. Don't be so hard on someone you don't even know for one day you may fall pray to such talk.

  3. That was pretty entertaining my locker room friend but I feel you need to speak with someone to exercise those demons you have within so your head doesn't spin! In the Gym. Where things begin, and you find someone in, You.
