Former Detective Richard Polk Sentenced to 71/2 Years for Child Porn



A former Phoenix homicide detective has been sentenced to 7½ years in prison after pleading guilty on April 7 to child pornography charges.

Richard Polk, 51, of Surprise, also received lifetime probation.

Polk pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor and dangerous crimes against children, the attorney's office said.

Police investigated Polk after they found he had purchased child pornography over the Internet, the attorney's office said.

Police recovered numerous images and video of child pornography from Polk's home in a subsequent search, the attorney's office said.
