Federal prosecutors filed new charges against a former Portsmouth Police officer accused of taking indecent liberties with a minor.
Paul Alonzo Ewing now faces three federal counts of possessing child pornography, according to documents filed in Norfolk federal court on Friday.
Ewing already faced a handful of state charges, including five counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor and five counts of producing child pornography.
Ewing was a Portsmouth officer from November 2004 to his resignation in October 2008.
He was arrested in September and accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in 2007.
