A 37-year-old Salina man was arrested Saturday on multiple counts of sexual exploitation of a child after police say child pornography was found on his computer.
Salina Deputy Police Chief Carson Mansfield said police investigated after receiving information that a computer belonging to David L. Eaton Jr., 811 Willis Apt. B, contained images of child pornography. Mansfield said police found 15 pornographic images on the computer that had been downloaded from the Internet.
While I absolutely agree that any inappropriate action done directly to a child is beyond unacceptable ... at what point is it not an offense? ( for example ... just as this person did not violate any children directly ... but only viewed images ... so too do the law enforcement personell view the confiscated images ... likely by neccesity even more often then the "criminals" that are charged with only viewing pornography and child pornography....Sad that the internet "feeds" criminal images to us without our intitially seeking it .... and we should endeavor to be forgiving and determining when and who is truly violaing the child .... and who are themselves being violated by initially unsolicted material being sent online .... its like purposefully hiding drugs in someones food ... then blaming them for being under the influence .... the first appearance is not always an accurate view.
