John Tester Sentenced to 30 Years for Molesting Child

John M. Tester remained quiet as Allen Superior Judge John F. Surbeck ordered him to serve 30 years in prison for felony charges of child molesting, child exploitation and possession of child pornography.

It wasn't until his case was completed and the court moved to another case that Tester broke down, shaking as he wiped away tears and flipped through the stack of documents given to him by his attorney.

Tester, 33, of New Haven, was charged with vicarious sexual gratification, child exploitation, fondling in the presence of a minor, possession of child pornography and four counts of child molesting after two witnesses located images and videos of child pornography on his home computer, according to his probable-cause affidavit.

In a police interview, Tester revealed more information about molesting the girl on more than one occasion, the affidavit said.

In a June 22 guilty plea, which dropped six of the nine charges, he officially admitted to the charges.

On Monday, Tester issued a one-sentence apology to the court prior to sentencing.

“I'm sorry for the suffering I've caused,” he said.
